Dear Penn Yan Middle School Community,

Welcome to Penn Yan Middle School, home to a vibrant learning community comprised of sixth through eighth grades. We are committed to nurturing our students during this critical phase of their lives, aiming to foster personal development, and helping students shape their identities through a whole-child approach.

Our strong curriculum covers core subjects such as English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Beyond these, we offer encore classes including World Languages, Technology, Family and Consumer Science, Health, Physical Education, and Fine Arts. These classes provide a well-rounded education, allowing our students to explore their interests and talents in a diverse range of disciplines.

Recognizing the importance of mastery in core skills, we also provide lab classes that offer additional support and time with English Language Arts and Math content. These classes are designed to reinforce learning, allow for targeted skill development and ensure our students gain a solid foundation in these essential areas.  

We take pride in the innovative, collaborative environment at our school, anchored in a student-centered instructional model. We use interdisciplinary teams at each grade level to integrate learning across subjects. This collaborative approach allows us to deliver a more connected, meaningful, and engaging educational experience. Regular teacher meetings and data-driven decision-making fuel the design of engaging, unique lessons. We empower students to reflect on their learning, demonstrating their understanding in versatile ways. 

At the end of our school day, we offer Period 11 opportunities from 2:30-3:00 pm. During this time, students can receive extra teacher support or participate in various clubs and activities. This dedicated time provides students with the opportunity to further engage with their learning or explore new interests.
